Justice Summit 2020 Austin Moving Online

Sixteen CWACM members participated in meaningful conversations on Community Calls in May as we reflected on the importance of RENEWAL. The Austin Summit Planning Team facilitated the calls and invited participants to renew their trust and support for one another and for the Movement as we anticipated the October Summit.

But alas, as we participate in a changing world, we find that, we, as a Movement have a need to adjust our “norm.”

The community, for health and safety reasons, has concluded that we need to cancel the Austin Justice Summit scheduled for Oct.30 – Nov 1, 2020. We regret that we will not be able to meet in person this year and yet we are clear that community time is especially important to keep us connected with one another.

The Austin Planning Team is in process of putting together a Zoom call in September which will focus our connections in the Movement and explore models of shared leadership. The calls are scheduled for:

• Wednesday September 9, 7:00-8:30 pm ET
• Saturday September 12, 3:00-4:30 pm ET

We are inviting you to choose one of the two times. 

These challenging times call us to remember our connections and strengthen them so that we continue to do the great work of justice making.

Another Zoom call will be planned for October and will be a time to gather and celebrate the Movement and each other as we share the many gifts that each of us brings to the Movement. We will announce that date soon.

The future of the Movement depends on our remembering and building on the legacy of our founding members whose vision of equity and just community continues to call us into the world. In the midst of this world wide pandemic what matters most is the love and support we have and give to one another. Let’s come together and celebrate that as we create a space where we can all live and breathe together.

WE ARE the Movement! And together we will continue to be an expansive, anti-oppression, intersectional and non-hierarchical community.
